Gay Caballero

Seville is known for its ceramic tiles, and we went to an area that had lots of shops selling various tiles and ceramics. Amazingly, we didn’t find any that appealed to us. Cathy and I split off again for the day and walked through the shopping area looking at stores and watching the people of Seville. Because it is such a walking city and people don’t have cars, there are hoards of people out on the street. I was surprised to see in Catholic Spain gay posters. Things have much liberalized here since Franco’s death. No one speaks highly of the church, although it retains much power.

We found a wonderful Tapas restaurant and had lunch. The restaurants usually are divided into two. If you order tapas, you eat the small portions standing at a bar or a high table with no chairs. If you sit down to eat you are given a different full menu to order from. We usually ate Tapas for lunch not the full menu.

After lunch we continued our walking and returned to our hotel for our first Siesta in Spain. Siesta is for real. The shops close up and people go home to sleep or do other things. After we awakened Cathy had a massage from the same Japanese woman that gave me one yesterday. She is very good.

Later we joined Michael and Tamara for a dinner at a 1 star restaurant. The food and wine were great, but I really prefer more country cooking to the elaborate presentations at a high-end restaurant, where they serve little preparations of beautifully prepared food. We had a 7 course tasting menu with accompanying wines.
